Screenshots show Comeback as built for its first release.
1. Install and accept the defaults
When you install, Comeback checks four things in your store: which customer accounts you use, whether store credit is switched on, whether you ship to the EEA, and whether guest checkout is allowed. It then suggests defaults you can accept in one click and change any time:
- a 30-day return window
- size or colour swaps, store credit and refunds switched on, with no bonus on store credit
- auto-approve on
- a
final-saletag for items you don’t take back (it never blocks an EU withdrawal) - your shop address as the address items go back to

2. Add the button to customer accounts
One step happens in Shopify itself, because Comeback can’t switch it on or check it for you. In Settings, Checkout, click Customize, add Comeback’s “Return or exchange button” to the Orders and Order status pages and its “Return or exchange page” to Accounts, then save. Comeback’s Home screen walks you through it, and “Preview as customer” shows you the button on a real order.
Returns and exchanges run inside Shopify’s New Customer Accounts. If your store still uses legacy accounts, the EU withdrawal form works anyway; the return flow needs the switch first (see enabling New Customer Accounts).
3. Your customer picks a resolution
On eligible orders, a Return or exchange button appears in the customer’s Shopify account. They choose the items and a reason, then see every option your rules allow, in this order:
- A swap for another size or colour at the price they paid (the default setting), so a swap within the same product never costs them extra.
- A different item from collections you choose, up to the value of the return (Starter and above).
- Shopify store credit, with a bonus you set on Starter and above.
- A refund, whenever your policy allows it.
Nothing is pre-selected, there’s no countdown and no copy that pushes them away from a refund. If they want something that costs more than the return, Comeback suggests store credit instead, because it doesn’t collect extra payments yet.

4. You approve, receive and resolve
Requests that fit your rules are approved automatically, up to your plan’s monthly number. Everything else waits in one queue, including requests above that number: they’re never blocked or charged, they wait for you to approve them.
When the parcel arrives, open the request and click Receive & resolve: confirm the quantities, choose what goes back into stock, and Comeback issues the swap, the store credit or the refund.

5. Rules per region
You set the return window, the options customers see and the store credit bonus per region group. Free has one group for all countries, Starter four, and Growth and Pro as many as you need. For orders shipped to the EEA, refunds can’t be switched off for requests made within 14 days of delivery, on every plan including Free; after that, it’s your call.

6. The EU withdrawal form
Once you switch on Comeback’s app embed in the theme editor, visitors in the EEA see a “Withdraw from contract here” link in your storefront footer. The customer enters their name, order number and email, chooses the items and confirms on a second step with “Confirm withdrawal”. They see the date and time we received it straight away and get the same by email. The form needs no login, so it works for guest orders too, and it’s free on every plan.

What Comeback doesn’t do yet
- No return shipping labels: customers send items to your address using your instructions. If you use Shopify Shipping, you can still buy one in your Shopify admin as usual.
- No exchanges where the customer pays the difference: for pricier items, Comeback suggests store credit.
- No self-service returns on legacy customer accounts.
What it costs
Free costs $0 and auto-approves up to 10 requests a month. Paid plans are $19, $49 and $99 a month, with no fee per return. The EU withdrawal form is included on every plan. See pricing for the details.
