Getting started

What Comeback does, what to check before installing, and the setup steps.

Before launch. Comeback isn’t on the Shopify App Store yet. These articles describe the app as built for its first release; details can still change before it’s listed.

What Comeback does

Comeback gives your customers two ways to handle a return:

  • Returns & exchanges, self-service, inside their Shopify account — they can swap for another size or colour, choose a different product, take store credit, or get a refund.
  • EU withdrawal form (if you ship to the EU/EEA) — a no-login form built to the statutory labelling and acknowledgement requirements for a right-of-withdrawal button, on by default for EEA storefronts. This helps you meet the requirement; it doesn't guarantee that your store is compliant.

You review and process everything from one screen in your Shopify admin.

Before you install

Comeback's self-service returns and exchanges (Path A) require New Customer Accounts. If your store is still on legacy customer accounts, you can still use the EU withdrawal form, but the returns/exchange flow won't be available until you switch — see Enabling New Customer Accounts.

Setup, step by step

  1. Install the app. You'll land on the home screen within a few seconds of finishing the Shopify install flow.
  2. Automatic checks run for you:
    • Customer accounts version (New vs. legacy)
    • Whether store credit is enabled
    • Whether your store ships to the EEA
    • Whether guest checkout is allowed
  3. Accept the defaults, or adjust them later:
    • 30-day return window
    • Variant swap, store credit (0% bonus), and refund enabled
    • Final-sale tag: final-sale
    • Auto-approve on
    • Ship-back address taken from your shop address
  4. Preview it. Click "Preview as customer" to see the "Return or exchange" button on a real customer-account order.
  5. Turn on the withdrawal link (if you ship to the EEA and allow guest checkout). Click "Enable withdrawal link" — this opens the theme editor with the app embed pre-selected. Save it, and your homepage will show "Withdrawal link: live" once the first storefront visit confirms it.

Setup is designed to take under 5 minutes.

What "live" means

  • Portal live = a signed-in customer can see and use the "Return or exchange" button.
  • Withdrawal link live = the footer link renders and has pinged our backend at least once from your storefront.

Your homepage always shows both statuses, plus your 30-day metrics.
