Uninstalling & data deletion

What to export first, and how and when your data is deleted after you uninstall.

Before launch. Comeback isn’t on the Shopify App Store yet. These articles describe the app as built for its first release; details can still change before it’s listed.

Before you uninstall: export what you need

Export your withdrawal log to CSV before uninstalling. Once your data is deleted, we can't recover it. Go to Requests → Withdrawals → Export any time — it's available on every plan and covers your full date range.

If you want a record of your Path A requests, review your Requests queue and take any notes or exports you need before uninstalling too.

What happens when you uninstall

  1. Billing stops immediately, managed by Shopify.
  2. The storefront embed and admin UI disappear. No app code remains in your theme.
  3. Your shop's data — including the withdrawal log — is deleted through Shopify's mandatory data-deletion process. Shopify notifies us 48 hours after you uninstall, and we complete deletion within 30 days of that notification — so allow up to about 5 weeks total, not 48 hours, if you're checking that everything is gone.

Why we don't keep it longer

The acknowledgement email your customers received is their own durable-medium record of each withdrawal — it doesn't depend on us keeping anything. The underlying return records live in Shopify itself and aren't affected by our app being removed. Our withdrawal log is a convenience and audit layer on top of that, which is why we recommend exporting it if you want to keep your own copy — but we don't keep it indefinitely "just in case," because that would go beyond what we've told Shopify and our merchants we do with this data.

If you reinstall later

If you reinstall after your data has already been deleted (see the timing above), you'll get a fresh setup with none of your previous rules, logs, or request history.

Data-protection requests

If one of your customers asks you for a copy of, or the deletion of, the data Comeback holds about them, contact us at oguz@tansolutions.org and we'll help you fulfil it, consistent with our role as your data processor.

On deletion specifically: the withdrawal log can't be edited or deleted through the ordinary admin screens (it's designed to be tamper-evident), so if a customer's deletion request reaches you directly rather than through Shopify, let us know and we'll delete that customer's declaration(s) on your instruction.
